The ballot in connection with iho subdivision of the Blackstone Hill, Homo Hills, and Lander Huns, lately occnpicd by Messrs Ross and Glendining, was hold in Nasoby-to-day. Thero was a very largo proportion of tho applicants present, more than 400 being accommodated in tho hall. Tho proceedings were presided over by Sir D. Barron (Commissioner of Crown Lands), while Messrs J. Mitchell and 1 J. J. Ramsay acted as scrutineers. The following arc tho applicants:— Run 234, 2103 acres. Seventy-three appli-* cants.—Archibald Williamson (Blackstone Hili). Run 234b, 1491 acres. One hundred and seventy-five applicants.—Lucy Ann Burns (Otakau).

Run 224 i), 2141 acrcs. Two hundred and eighty-six applicants. — Gcorgo Eraser (Cheviot).

One hundred and eighty-six Wilson (Lauder). Run 227 a, 13,570 acres. Ten applicants.'— Ann Dillon (Blaekstone Hill). liun 227n, 13,890 acres. One applicant.— James Scott (Uinimcrbum). Only one application was received for Run 227n, 15,500 acres—that of Thomas A. Lewis (Blaekstone Hill)—who was declared successful. Run 227 c, 15,030 acres, was not applied for, and- is slill open fc.r application. Mr ,T. .T. Ramsay received tho following wire from tho Hon. Mr M'Nab on Wednesday: "Delighted to hear that 946 peop-'p, applied for Blaekstone, Homo Hills, and Lauder Runs. It is gratifying to myself, and I feci sure to you also, that the decision come to at St. Bathans lias produced such satisfactory results.—Roiieht M'Naii." Mr Ramsay replied as follows: "Reciprocate kind congratulations. Only drawback board successful blocking small men Homo Hills by surveying unwieldy, expensive sections. Want all manlcss land opened suitably for landless men. To-day's applications striking commentary on the opposition cry of the people being afraid of leaseholds. Three hundred and one applied for 21 years' lease for one section Lauder." •
