Tho Taranaki Petroleum Company lias purchased a pumping plant to clean out the Birthday well, and hopes to have tire bore clear within a! month. Five thousand contributing shares have been placed under offer for a fortnight to an outside syndicate. At No. 4- bore a record in boringhas ken accomplished—viz., 51ft in one day.
