ABBOTSFORD PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.

WELCOME TO REV. C. SIMS. A very pleasant gathering of the mombets of tlio Abbotsfoid Piinutivc Methodist Chuich and their friends was lield on Monday night to welcome tho Rev. 0. Sims to Abbotsford. Tho mooting was also tho occasion of tho Christian Endeavour annual ewioa. The Rev. Mr Bailey occupied the chair, and briefly opened tho proceedings in his usual 'homely ajul pleasant mannci, which makes every one feel at home. A number of musical and vecul items, including- quartets, duet;, solos, and loeitdtions were well rendered bj tho members and friends.

Mr T, M'Cahon, jun., read tho annual report of the Endeavour Society, whieh showed marked success in the vein's work and a credit financial balance. Mr H. ±>. Bedford gave a Bhort address, in which ho pointed out that small lxjginnings we.ro often the commencement of great things, and throughout a most instructive and impressive address ho urged the gioat need of continued peieo\cranoc in the Endeavour Society work. Ho also dicw attention to the great difference between the loligion of the Pharisees and 'that whidi Christ pioachedl and taught and handed down to humanity for it 6 guidance.

Tho Rev. Mr Bailey, in the course of hi? address, congratulated the Emtauour Society on its successful year's work, Ho felt sorry that thov had sevoied their connection >vith tho Chnstion Endeavour Union, but was glad tthej were still Emleavcurers and hoped that thev Mould soon bo I*ack in the union again., He also extended a very sincere and liaorty welcome to the Rev, C. A Sims to Abhotsfoul and Fairfield, and sinee'icly hoped that tho blessing of God would lest op his laboms in his new eplioro.

Mr H. Berry, in the course of a short address, also extended a warm welcome to the Rev. Mr Sims on behalf of the congragnlion and friends in Abbotsford. In a biief hut Mucous speech the Rev. '1 Sims thanked the congregation for its _ kindly welcome, .md expressed tho belief that tho Dunedin oiicmt was tho best 111 the colony ,He had not had much experience of circuits yd, but that was lis belief at picsent. Ho also deprecated tho step which tho Endeavour Society had tiken in &o\crms; its connection with the union, and hoped that they would soon bo united again. He concluded by thanking the meeting for tho ■welcome, and hoped that thoy would soon all know each other bettor, and that tho would have a good earnest and successful year's work to tho honour and crowning glory of Christ. Greetings were recched from se\cral Christian Endeavour societies, 0110 being from Auckland, one from Dundas Street, one from the Kow P.M. Ende.ncur Society, and one from the Abbotsford Junior Society. The President of tho Christian Endeavour Society, Mr M'Cahon, suitably lesponded. Tea was handed lound during tho evening and duly appreciated. The usual complimcnlary vote of thanks were proposed and carried unanimously to the Abbotsford Christian. Endea\our, and to all who had ro well and ably contributed to the success of the c\ening. floral ladle* ably assisted with the accompaniments, and the meeting ended with tho «mgmg of " God bo with you till we meet again."
