EXHIBITION PICTURES.
TO SECURE. SOME FOR DTJNEDIN, Other centres in the colony have taken liberal advantage of tho opportunity of purchasing pictures from tho Exhibition Art Gallery for their permanent collections, but so far Dunedin has made no defimto ino\o in this direction. There is now, howover, a prospect that a picture or two from the Exhibition gallery may yet find its way into tho new Public Art Gallery being erected in this city, and a movement has been set on foot lo collect funds to this end which should have speedily a definite result. At a mccttng held on Monday ci cning the Otago Art Society discussed tho desirability of raising a fund for tho purpose indicated, and lesolved to vote £25 towards such a fund, and to invito subscriptions thereto from thc % citizens We trust that a ready response will bo forthcoming, and shall bo glad to acknowledge in our columns subscriptions that are sent to us.
