Unpleasant rumours and suspicions;, lifo for several months, touching alleged deviations from specifications in tho construction of the scptio tank of the drainage scheme were eet at rest last night at a stormy mooring of tho City Council, when Mr Mestaycr, consulting engineer a.nd designer of the (irainngo scheme, interviewed tho council. Ho was examined at considerable length, and slid the deviations v.ero justified o.ung to local conditions, which were unfoioseen. He was thoioughlv satisfied with the solidity and soundness of the tank, and the eonfiactois' job had been eatisfactorilj poi formed.
