LABOUR DEPARTMENT.
ALLEGED NEGLECT OF OORRESPOXDEXCE. (Per United Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, March 25. With reference to complaints made by the Trades Council deputation concerning the methods o£ the Labour Department and t'lm neglect of correspondence, the Minister or Labour has replied to Mr C!arey, secretary of the Cooks mid Waiters' Association, that, after- making inquiry, lie had found the department's officers were not to blame, but had done their duty. Mr Caro.v has replied. reiterating the allegations and giving further evidence in aupport, also asking for a full inquiry. He states that the day after the deputation ho received no less than 21 letters replying to let ten which lie had complained of at the deputation as being unanswered.
