TENNIS TOURNAMENT.
CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS. PARKER DEFEATED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyrigki. SYDNEY, March 24, (Received March 24, at 4.11 p.m.) The tennis tournament was concluded yesterday in fine weather, the finals for the championships attracting a large attendance. Parker's success in the earlier stages of the New Soiitli Wales Championship Singles left him to light mil the final with Horace Rico (New Smith Wales). A splendid struggle resulted in Hico defeating the ex-New Zenlamler, the scores being 6—l, 6-3, 3-6, 5—7, 6—l. Kice secured the- first two sets, and Parker placed tho next two tn his credit. In tlio iiiiiil tussle Kice carried all before ■ him. Rico played with great judgment and power, keeping the attack centred on l'aiker's forehand. Parker showed (mo resourcefulness and science, but was somewhat, Licking in his usual dash towards tlio dose. In the liiulies' Championship Singles Miss Puyten, the holiler, beat AUss D. Gordon, 6-4!, 6—o. In the Gentlemen's Championship Doubles Wright and Jones defeated Lockley and Rice, 6—2, 6—3, I—6, 6 all.
