THE MAYOR AND THE TRAMWAY. HOLIDAY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin,—lt. is very much to bo regretted that this trouble has arisen over tho proposed holiday on Good Friday, but the worst part of tho matter is, I think, that city councillors should be desirous of acting in defiance of law. So much do I fed this that T should Iw most, reluctant to vote for either of tho candidates for tho mayoralty now offering themselves, although uudo'r other eircuinstane.es I should have been staisfied with cither. If anyone would tako tho matter up, I should bo glad to sign a requisition to the present Mayor asking him to offer himself for re-election as a protest against councillors ignoring law. I should have been glad that the men should have had tho holiday, if it could have been legally granted, and should not object to the council taking stcp3 to obtain legal power to grant it next year; but ill is most important thai, the city should bo governed legally.—l am, etc., Citizen*.
