OPENING OF ALEXANDRA-TO-CLYDE SECTION. Mr A. R. Barclay, A1.11.T'., received a wire on Wednesday Jast from the Acting Prime Minister '(the Hon. W. Hnll-Jones) in reference lo the arrangements for the official opening of the Alexandra-Clyde section of tile line. The wiro was' as follows:— "A. I!. Barclay, Esq., M.11.R.,-Final arrangements have been made for special to leave Dunedin at 7.37 on April 2, arriving Clyde 3.10, and leave Clyde again 7 o'clock, and return as far as Middlomarch, reaching there 11.40.—Wm. Hau.-Jonks." From tho wording of tho wiro, Mr Barclay gathered lhat only some four hours wore to bo spent in Clyde, and as this time would be. altogether too short to allow ot receiving deputations and transacting olher business, ho forwarded a wiro to this effect to the Minister, and yesterday ho received tlio following wire, which sets out the official arrangement :— "A. R. Barclay, Esq., M.II.I?,. —Arrangements at; Clyde are: Open railway, after which deputations re extension and other matters;' banquet in the evening; stay there, the night; return following morning 10, Alexandra; slay there couple of hours on return.—W. Hall-Jones."
