WELLINGTON RECEIVING HOME.
(Per United Pbess Association.) WELLINGTON, March 21. At a meeting of the Wellington and Wairarapa Charitable Aid-Board, Mr Hogg, M.H.R., took exception to the increase in the cost of maintaining the Wellington Receiving Home. Last year tlio amount was £2321/ and this year the sum required was £3500. Ho thought it would possibly ho bettor it there was no home at all. Some members explained that the increased cost was owms to l.hc increased number of children sent to the homo, and the Chairman said the State was giving a chanco of life to children who would not otherwise get one. Ultimately it was resolved that, in the opinion of the board, it. was tlcsirablo that increased care should be taken to seo that, parents, guardians, and relations are brought faco to tacc with their natural obligations.
