ARTILLERY SHOOTING.
■•PAST YEAR'S RECORDS. {Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 6. The records of the Now Zealand Volunteer Artillery praclioo for the past year show •considerable advance in garrison artillery shooting on last year's results in both accuracy and the rale of tiro, and this despite the fact that conditions. have been nißcli more difficult than previously. Following is a comparison of eacli company's records in order of merit: —
j, The bestrecord of shooting from light y quick-firing gutiswas done by No. 4 Com- | pany, Wellington, with 65 per cent. hits. Field artillery practicu did not show an improvement on tho.previous year, chiefly owing to the conditions being much harder. Word has been received by Captain Ritchie that the B Battery obtained a second-class pass in connection with the annual firing at Barewood. It is undcrstood that no "firsts" were obtained in the colony this year. The. battery at 1 Wellington is stated to have obtained a second.
