Miss Janet M'Leod has received intimation that she has passed the final section of tha B.A. degree, and that she has won the 'mental science scholarship. A shipmate of tho lato Mrs Daniel Weir wishes to correct the statement that she arrivod by the ship Blundell, Mrs Weir was a passenger by tho ship Strathmore, whicli reachcd Port ChalmcTS in 1856. Mr Korman H. Bell has received intimation of his appointment as judge of the tea exhibits at tho Kcw Zealand International Exhibition. Mr Robert C. Begg, youngest son of Mr A. C. Beeg, Hoslyn, has received cable intimation that ho has passed tho examination for M.A. ■with second-class honours in mental scjcnco and philosophy. Messrs R. Bteen, J. Haymcs, and W. Patti-t son have been appointed to represent th< Otago Trades, and Labour Council at th< / Easter Conference, with Sir It. Ferguson emergency delegate. Last evening tho members of the XingariRichmond Football Club entertained Mp Arthur Low at a socia' for tho purpose of making him a presentation, prior to his departure for Lyttelton, where he is to take up a responsible position. Mi Wb, M'Beath, who made the presentation on behalf of tho club, referred to Mr Low's many good qualities, both on and off the field, andl wished him success in his new home. Several other gentlemen also spoke. The presentation cousisted of a handsome dressing-case* Mr Low suitably responded. During th« evening musical items were contributed by Messrs S. Woods, A. Rice, Stewart, A. IC. Low, Hobbs, Dee, A. C. Low, "Watt, Graham, and Collie. A Pahnerston North telegram states that Mr P. C. Freeth, v.'M has been editor of tha Maliawatu Times for the past four years, intends to go on an extended tour to Grcati Britain, tho Continent, and tho East, and; was entertained by the citizens at a dinner on Thursday night. Mr J. M. Johnston, pre-, sident of the Chamber of Commerce, presided, and representatives of the Boroughl Council, tho A. and P. Association, the Hospital Movement, and Beautifying Society were present. General appreciation was expressed of Mr Freeth's work in all matters relating to tho advancement of tho town and district.'
