Mr Jim-ray Bnssell. A.0.5.M., who occupies tlie position of Inspector of Mines at Charters Towers, North Queensland, is at present in Dimcdin for a lew weeks' holidav.
Mr T. Cockbnrn lias been promoted from clerk in the Railway Department -to stationmaster at Ranfiirly. Ho left town this morning to talto over his new duties.
Mr W. H. Kussell, of the New Zealand Hansard staff, accompanied by Mrs Kussell, is at present spending a few days in Dunedin, and purposes proceeding to the Lakes.
Dr Hodges. Health Officer at Port Chalmers, left by the. second express yesterday to join the- Kumara at Auckland, en route for Great Britain. Prior to leaving he was waited upcin. by *i- number of friends, who presented, him with a handsome silver-mounted suit-caso as a mark of appreciation of his many services, and also wished him bon voyage uud a safe return. Mr Hodges acknowledged the gift in suitable terms, and thanked the deputation for its kind expressions of good will. Dr Hodges expects to return to this colony about a year hence.
