BAKEKRS' CONFERENCE.
(Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, February 19. Tho animal conference of the New Zealand Master Baiters' Association assembled to-day. Nineteen delegates were present, and others are to arrive. The annual report stated that the year had been uneventful so far as trade matters were concerned. No demand had been made for amendment, of the current award. Tho question of licensing shops for the sale of bread had been discussed, and was favoured by tlio Chief Health Officer and Minister of Health, who also agreed that the practico of exchanging fresh loaves for stale ones should bo prohibited. An attempt made to get barracouta loaves classcd as fancy bread had failed, 'l'lio finances were in a satisfactory condition, the appropriation account standing at. £41 76 Bd. Some discussion took place on technical education versus apprenticeship, and this is to come up again for further debate.
