HILLSIDE RAILWAY WORKSHOPS PICNIC.
Notwithstanding the unpromising weather .on Saturday morning the annual picnic of tlio Hillside Railway Workshops employees was in every way a- decided success, fully 700 persons being present The arrangements wore, in charge of a capable and hard-working coniT. Leyland (chairman), J. A. Brown (secretary), A. Blaclcie, L Muirhcad, T. Sroficld, J. Kowlands, J. Logic, W. Stewart. The baby show was one of the chief features of the outing, Messrs T. 1C Sidey, M.H.R., and J. It. Robertson being called upon to decide upon the merits of nearly. 20 children. The Cavershaui Brass Band was in attendance, and contributed greatly to the pleasure of the picnic. The railway arrangements wore all that could be desired. The large crowd arrived home about 7.30 p.m., fully satisfied wHh their day's amusement. Bolow are the results of the various events: —
