YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.
There was a good attendance at llio strangers' social tea yesterday. Mr X. Patersou was in the chair. Mr It'Kinney, from. Auckland, the newly-appointed secretary for the Invereargill Young lion's Christian Association, was accorded a hearty welcome, and spoko about his future work.. Mr Lyman h. Pierce spoke about his tcjir through Not/ Zenljmd, which lie said gave him great satisfaction, for in tho chief centres tbc work was taking a firm hold. Cliristclmrch was making big jnovo forward, and going in for a new building. Auckland bad a gocd building in some respects, liu: u, was not suitable for i.M.C.A. work; they would, therefore, dispose of it and go In for a. modern association building. At Wellington the community was very much interested in tho association, and would probably subscribe another £5000 to tho building. Another pleasing feature was that a. number of young men wre going out from Aew Zealand to take up the Y.M.C.A. work, so tho time was almost past when.
America wou'd be sending men out to Xow Zealand and Auptralia. in the interests of tho Y.M.C.fi.'s, for Nov.- Zealand would soon be sending men out to America. Mr Pierce concluded by giving some illustrations showing the power of personal work. At the Garrison Hull at 8 p.m. Mr Pierce addressed a meeting of men only. There-was a very fair attendance. The sins of impurity tliul intcnip?rauce wero (bait, with in n most forceful milliner. The address was full of hope to men. illustrated by transformed lives now active in Christian work. At the close of the meeting a numbor of men signified their intention of following Christ. The Y.iU.C.A. choir rendered two Gospel choruses. Jlr Pierce will be back in Duned.in in July or August.
