WELLINGTON-, .Tamurv 26. A hotel porter, William AVosf, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, without tho option of a fino, for exposing indecent photographs to a barmaid at tho same hotel.

Hie Hon. It. M'Xnb addressed a large meeting last night, at Ekelahuna on tho Land Kill. A vote- of thanks and of approval of tho principle of the bill was carried, an amendment expressing only thanks to tho Minister being lost.

■ NEW PLYMOUTH, January 26. Bitter complaints are coming in from the back-blocks on account of the practical suspension of the co-operative road works. Small progress has been made this summer.

HOKITIKA, January 26. The trustees of the local Saving Bank have voted £400 as a gift to tho Hokitiksi I , roe Library, now being erected principally from funds provided by Mr Carnegie. Ideal weather continues, but rain is badly required for raining purposes.
