GREEN ISLAND BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Green Island Borough Council held its ordinary meeting on Monday evening; prc-seirt-'lhe. Mayor (Mr "Win. Geddcs), and Crs Higlict, Love, Wilson, Kane, Falconer, and Jenkins. Mr Penfell w?.s grouted permission to put a. drain through a footpath. The District Engineer, Kailway Department., wrote, re the closing of the right-of-way leading to Burnside Station, and Mr S. Pringle wroto re formation of foolputh and channelling iiv Neil strcel. The Works Committee, reported having inspected the borough streets and channelling, and mentioned s.r.'eral improvements and alterations that were required. It was agreed that all necessary woiks he nttended to, and '.he clerk was instructed to make inquiries about- obtaining pipes (or culverts. A motion requiring all correspondence; to be ill tlw hands of tho elcr'k four oloa,days before the meeting of the council was carried. The Clerk to the Kaikorei Valley drainage scheme wrote forwarding it statement of liabilities incurred, amd the council decided to pay only on a rateable value basis. Tho clerk was instructed to write to Mr W. Blaclrie, drawing his attention to the carelessness of some cattlr-drovers going through tho borougrr on sale and other days. Mr Love was granted permission to remove soil from the roadside. Tho deg tax for the ensuing year was fixed at 103, and the clerk was appointed collector. It was decided to hold the next meeting on January 7, 1307. The ordinary monthly meeting af tha Green Island Domain Board was held on Monday night, and was attended by Mf Win. Geddcs (in the chair), and Messrs Ilighet, Love, Wilson, Kane, Falconer, and Jenkins. The clerk reported that £10 had been plated 011 the, Supplementary Estimates. The olerk also reported that the sand was covering soma of the grass land of tho domain, and it was decided that several pounds of lupin seed bo procured and sown thereon.
