(Received Aug. 6, at 9,7 a.m.) The election for the Cockermouth seat, vacant by the death of Sir Wilfrid Lawson, resulted as follows:—Sir J, Randies (Unionist), 4593; Jlt Guest (Liberal), 3903; Mr Smillie (Labour), 1136. [Sir J. Handles was elected in 1900, but was defeated at the general election at the end of last year by Sir W. Lawson by 563 votes.] (Received Aug. 6, at 10.3 a.m.) Parliament reassembles on the 23rd of October.
