The Dunedin and St. Joseph's Clubs combined forces' on Saturday in a run from Lcven street, Kbslvn, as guests of Mr J. B. Callan. A pack of 34 followed a good trail laid by W. Foley (Dunedin) and Murphy (St. Joseph's)/ Proceeding up Leven street, the hares descended to the Kaikorai Valley, up Frasor's Gully, thence lip Kirkland Hill to Bunting's store. The main road was then followed An the direction of Ashburn Hall, for about a mile, and a turn made into the open country on the left. A circular course brought the pack to the head" of Fraser's Gully again, and the road was then followed up" tlio hill and home. The mild afternoon and the open country made the run a very enjoyable one. an'tl the pace throughout must be considered fast, notwithstanding the great quantity of mud met with, especially in Fraser's Gully. Members were not disappointeM, as the pack was in pood form, and the going good throughout, the fine open country on the Taiori offering every inducement to a fast run. The trail (laid by Titchener and Miller) led over the hills on the north of the racecourse, through the Silverstream to the road, along which a turn was taken to within a/mile of the Black bridge, then striking oft" along the North Taieri road in the direction of the Mineral Springs. Here the trail went across country to the railway line, which was followed to the bridge, leaving which the road was taken towards Mosgiel; then doubling back through Wingatui to the racecourse. In view of the forthcoming 10-mile handicap, a number of the club's officials were busy

during the afternoon in selecting a suitable course, and as every care is bein» Taken as to the distance being correct the success of the race from the runners' point ot view is now assured. A. Wood and A. K>l- - were despatched with the bags, and laid a. good trail round the Second Beach ami up the steep winding path past. Cargill s. and on towards the Caves. Up to this point a splendid view of the sea was obtained, and from here the trail turned inland, and after some good onen miming came on to the hills overlooking Bnrnside. Tha homeward trail was -laid through Mr Sidey's property and down through' some bush on to Allandale road, and along Norfolk street back to the gymnasium. The afternoon being so fine and the trail being principally over eros.s-coiintry. the run was thoroughly enjoyed by all. '.After the run several of the members refreshed themselves with a dip in the baths. That ever, they were kindly looked after at afternoon tea by Mrs and Miss Tope and Mrs George Blyth, to whom, also to Messrs Pope and Blyth. the thanks of the club are due. The captain acknowledged the kindness of lbs hosts and hostesses, for whom three ringing cheers were given before dispersing.

The Southern B.C. Club held a run at Wingatui on Saturday, there being a fair muster of members. In view of the approaching inter-club contest, the course taken was somewhat similar to the inlcrclub course of last year. A fast and a slow 'pack were formed, with an interval of about fivo minutes betuven each. Neariiig home tho slow pack wa.s sighted, and gradually overhauled, the stragglers being overtaken near the racecourse. In the final sprint round the course Cambie and Crokor went to the front. The thanks of the club arc duo to iho Jockey Club for the use of dressing rooms. The St. Andrew Harriers will hold their usual weekly run at Anderson's Kav on Wednesday, as guests.of Mr D. M'Ciirdy. Members meet at the Post. Office at 2.30 p.m. A large attendance is requested. Entries for the Cross-country Race close on Wednesday.
