(Received July 22, at 4.37 p.m.) The Surry Hills election, which was rendered necessary by the resignation of Mr John Norton, who resigned in consequence of tho acceptance of a challenge thrown out by him to. Mr JTolman that both should vacate their seats and contest the Cootamundra seat, was exciting and noisy. Tho polling resulted as follows:—Mr Bruntnell (Liberal), 1109 votes: Mr Meagher (Independent), 961: Mr Lawton (Labour), 888; Mr Norton (Independent), 679.
