(Received July 20, at 11.49 p.m.) The Bank of England returns show tho stock of gold coil, and bullion to be £35,326,000; reserve, £25,874,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 49.17. The notes, in circulation total £29,908,000; ; public deposits, £9,044,000; other deposits, £43,498,000; Government securities, £15,977,000; and other securities, £38,796,000. Three months' bills are discounted at i 54 per cent. Consols are quoted at £87 12s 6d. r lhe following are the quotations for colonial Government stocks, compared with those ruling a week previous:—

Tho wheat market's are firm. The fine weather has improved tho harvest prospects in England awl France, but it is neutralised by heavy rains in Russia. There are smaller shipments from Russia and the Argentine. Cargoes are neelected. South Australian, prompt arrival, 32s 6d; Victorian, afloat, 30.s 2d to 31s 9cl; New South Wales, 31s to 51s 3d; Australian spot, 31s 6d to 325. The latter is depressed owing to the forced sales of parcels- already arrived. Flour: Slow trade. London, 22s 3d to 22s 9d. Freights, nothing doing. Butter is firm. Danish. 113s .to 115s; colonial unchanged. Tfiere is only a small business, the hulk beins; stored. Copper: Spot, £80 17s 6d; three months, £80 ss. Tin: Spot, £166 17s 6d; three months, £166 7s 6d. ted, £16 15?. Silver, 30 3-26 d per oz. Pig iron, 50s 4d. Spelter, £26 17s 6d. Sugar is steady. German, 8s Sd; first marks, 10s 6d. Tho Bradford wool market is quiet, i Forties, lPd ; forty-sixes, 19£ d; common | sixties, 26] d ; super, 27] d.
