(Received July 6, at 10.55 p.m.) The 15auk of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be £35,392,000; reserve, £21,969,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 41.22. The notes in circulation total £30,281,000; public deposits, £12,093,000; other deposits, £48,369,000; Government securities, £16,977,000; and oilier securities, £36,547,000. Three maul lis' bills arc discounted at 3 1-16 per cent. Consols: are quoted at £87 15s. The following are the quotations for colonial Government stocks, compared with those ruling :i week previous: —
The English wheat markets are quiet, but steady, despite the large arrivals. Continental are dull, and the American are fluctuating daily according to tho weather. Cargoes arc quiet. April shipments are quoted at 31s 6d ; May, 31s 9d to 325; July and August are held for 32s 6d; Australian spot, 3& to 32s 3d. Flour is dull ami unchanged. Butter is steady and unchanged, with excellent prospects of present prices being fully maintained. Silver, 29 15-16 d per oz. Pig ironj 50s 2d. Copper: Spot, £81 ss; three months, £80 ss. Tin: Spot, £176; three months, £172 15s. Lead, £16 10s. Spelter, £26 17s 6d. Sugar is firm. German, 8s sd: first marks, 10s 7d. The Bradford ivool market is quiet. Buyers are awaiting the opening of the London sales. Forties, 18Jd; forty-sixes, 20d; common sixties, 27d ; super,' 28tl.
