KAHUNA BOWLING CLUB. _ The annual meeting of the Kaituna Bowling- Olub was held in the Palace Tea Rooms last evening, Mr Vf Taylor (president of the club) occupied tho chair, and there was an attendant of M members. Tho Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, (already published), said lie was pleased to see so many members present, and before proceeding to business, he would Iflie to t.-tlec the present opportunity of thanking them for having elected him to the position of liresiilent. It had ever been his -..endeavour to deserve that honour at the bands of members. Ho desired, also, to record his thanks to the committee for their courtesy and attention to him during his term of office j it had been considerably lightened by tho assistance received from those, gentlemen, and more particularly from tho two working heads, Messrs J. Stone, the secretary, and Mr }. A. HasleU, the treasurer. These two gentlemen were true enthusiasts, and those present would agree with him in saying that; no good work could ta done where thero was not enthusiasm. lie would also liko to refer I? the work of tho Green Committee, associated with tho name of Captain Sundstrum. Everything had been done to make tho green a good one, and lie thought he could safely eay that members found the result satisfactory. The thank of tho club were due to Messrs C. R. Smith and Fred Smith for the trouble thoy had taken in getting tho debentures returned to the various holders. As far as finance was concerned, members would find that that was satisfactory, and accounts had boon paid right up to date, he thought for the first tirno foneomc years past.—(Applause.) All tho outstanding liabilities had been paid sinco the statement had been made up. He was exceedingly pleased to renort a credit balance. Tho levy of 2s 6d mado on members for the contingency account had left a small deficit still, the amount havino scarcely covered tho expense of afternoon teas; and in connection with this important matter Miss Nicholson and other Jadie< wcro deserving-of the.club's best thanks. Jno Chairman referred feelingly to the loss of two respected members of the clubMessrs J. Rattray and E. Cook. The former gentleman was one of the founders of tho green, and he had given a lot o! attention to cultivating the social side. In Mr Cook the club had also lost a genial member, who was much missed from the grcon. Mr C. R. Smith seconded tho motion Jto agreed with what Uio chairman had | said, ana he thought, with him, that through the indefatigable efforts of ft-re-tary and tre.ii/nirer, the members had enI joyed a pleasant season, and to those i gentlemen wss due to a groat extent the present prosperity of tho club. He hoped it would be the good fortune of the club that tho eervioes of those two gentlemen would be retained for many years to come. (Applause.)
