MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

Tho half-y«arlv summoned meeting of the Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F.,

was held in the lodgo room, Stuart street, on Tuesday, N.G. Bro. Rosevearo presiding. Three new members were initiated. The following were elected for the various offices for the ensuing half-vear:— I\ T .G., Bro. E. W. Foa; V.G., Bro. R. C. Allnntt; E. S., Bro. W. F. Lyon; auditor, P.G. Bro. Wright (re. elected). P.G. Bro. Smith (Albion) and P.G. Bro. Nees acted as scrutineers. P.P.G.M. Bro. Sligo was accorded a hearty vote of ttmnks foi his report on the D.U.F.S. Dispensary. It was also carried to send a letter of appreciation to the management of tho dispensary for tho way it had carried on the work, in particular to tho Hand and Heart Lodge. P.G. Bro. Smith (Albion) replied for the visitors. The summoned meeting was adjourned for erne month. ' Tho half-yearly summoned meeting of the Loyal Albion Lodge, M.U., Ko. 5253, was held in the lodge room, Rattray street, on Thursday, June 21, when N.G.'Bro. G. Coughlan presided. P.G. Bro. C. W. Smith moved that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mrs Scddon and family on the occasion of their sad bereavement by tho death of Mr Seddon. our late Premier. The motion was carried in silence. G.M. Kennedy installed the newly elected officers, wlio were SC.G. Bro. A. J. Foley, V.G. Bro. J. Shanklands, and E.S.' Bro. H. G. Redman. One candidate was initiated and three were proposed. The half-yearly summoned meeting of the Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held in the society's hall, Port Chalmers! on Tuesday evening. K.G. Bro. G. A. G. Allan presided, and there was a crowded attendance of members. A large amount of routine business was conducted, after which the election of officers for tho ensuing six months was proceeded with, resulting as follows :-G.M„ Bro. G. A. G. Allan; N. 8., Bro. J. A. Bel! and J. Crcig. The sick visitor's report showed a number of members drawing on the funds of the lodge, for various periods. The lodge is, however, in the p'oml position of being one of those which had a. substantial surplus at last valuation, and of its continued progress ils members may he proud. P.G. Bro. Street Literary and Debating Society, when Mr Hark Cohen pave an interesting review of, the life of (he "late Premier. _ The lecturer-, commencing with MV Seduon's boyhood, pointed out the characteristics which had enabled him to rise into the. highest, position of the colonv, drew attention to the great reforms with which will always be associated the name of the Premier, and naid a tribute as a. personal friend to the character of Mr Seddon's home life. The Rev. W. Lavcock. who presided, conveyed tho thanks of the- society to Mr Cohen.

A, special summoned merlin" of Loval Orange (True Blue) Lod»« was held in the Dunda-s Street Kail on Wednesday evening. W.M. Bro. Einlay was in (he cha.fr, assisted by acting D.M. Bro. Dickinson, Amongst llie visitorajprcsent were P.G.M. Bro Grey, P.O.M. Bro. Carrick. P.G.D.JI Bro. Stevens, P.M. Bro. Closs, P.M. Bro. Smith, and D.M. Bro, Bruce. The special business of the even, ing was the presentation of a full set of regalia to the officers of the lodic P.G.M\ Bro. Grelg presented the regalia- lo on-ch officer,, and was ably assisted by P.M. Bro. Little. In handing the regalia over to the lodge. Bro. Greig gave a brief sketcb of Xo. 3!) sinco its formation, and remarked that there were few lodges tli'at worked more quietly and at tho same time more effectively than No. 39 True Blue. This lodge claim's the honour of holding the, first full set of Orange regalia in the Middle Island of New Zealand, and has recently mado such rapid strides that they now rank as one of tho strongest lodges in the island. After complimenting them on possessing such a fine set of regalia, Bro. Greig closed his remarks by wishing thein long life and prosperity. Several of the visiting brethren also spoke.
