MELBOURNE, June 27. (Received June. 27, at 10.18 a.m.) It is stated that one reason for the delay in the new mail contract is that the i/oiulon parties interested are disinclined to accept the condition giving the Commnnwealtli power to take over the steamers at any time at n valuation to bo fixed by arbitration.
It appears that there are three parties in (lie new combination—a Sydney firm, a Melbourne firm, and one of the biggest shipping firms in London. The present capital of Hie combine is one million.
