Breach of Hie By-laws.—Jolin Hod"Son, for allowing a horse to wander in Ueach street, was Is, without costs. Disobedience of Lawful Commands. — Thorn lis Leflrv, fireman, and .Tames Timothy, seaman, belonging to Iho steamer Delphic, were charged wit li disobedience of lawful commands on tlio 2nd ins!, whilo on tho passage from Lyltelton to Port Chalmers. — Timothy pleaded " Guilty," and Leary " Not Kiiilly."—Mr Plaits appeared for the prosecution, and stated that at the chaiige of ■watches nt i p.m. Timothy should havo gone on duty, but refused, ml wlion apokeli to and by tho chief engineer he' still rsfiiscd. .There had lwen a great deal of trouble with tho crcw while the vessel wa« coming down tho coast, and tho captain wished ! .i lo be a warning that tho membars nt the erev; must obey lawful commands. Willi rtgard to Leary, Mr Platts said he absented himself the night previous, and ramo on board about 1 p.m. on the 2nd iiist., and when spoken to by tho chief officer he s?id that ho had missed the train. Ho started work, and worked till 2 p.m. At -1 p.m. tho boatswain asked him to turn to, when he refused. The boatswain again asked bun at 7 p.m., when ho refused. The vessel at this time was about halfway between Lj'tfcllon and Akaron, whon lie again refused. The boatswain then asked him to como lieforo tho caplain, but he refused.— John Hughes, tho chief officer, and Martin Miirn'ny corroborated Mr Platts's opening remarks.—Their Worships fined Timothy 20s. with professional feo (21s), and costs of court' (7=), in default seven days' imprisonment. Loary was fined 40s, and 28s costs, to default H days' imprisonment.
