cleared Tor consumption was £1335 14s. Some large purchases of jhares in the Leviathan and Palace Hotel Companies have taken place this week. Mr Conner having liouglit the interests of Mr Peter Karr and Dr Martin, two ot the directors. The business oi the Leviathan has increased so much of late that Mr Conner find* it necessary to increase the bedroom accommodation and to add up-to-date bathrooms and sitting rooms. These improvements are to be put in hand almost immediately. 'It is intended that the additions to the Leviathan shall cover the whole of the vacant frontage to High and Gaol streets, this making it the largest hotel of the kind in New Zealand.
