The week-end market was quiet on the Sleek Exchange en Saturday, and no business was transacted. The selling price of Golden Beds finned up to ISs 9d, and buyers at 17s 3d were unable to execute their commissions. The market in other stocks, with one or two slight exceptions, remained the sumo as during the week, and prices genearlly were unaffected by the. unsatisfactory condition of the rivers or the falling off in the gold returns for the week Private advices received in town confirm previous reports that there is a considerable quantity of drift running in the Moiyneux River, which at latest, advices remained at the 7ft 3in mark at Alexandra. So far as present indications go, the weather remains unsettled in Ihc Lakes district, and unless there is a speedy improveimiet the subsidence of the flood water will be slow, and there is also a possibility of a further rise. In any case, and viewed in its most hopeful aspect, the change in the condition oi the Moiyneux and the tributaries feeding it will affect the returns for a. few weeks of a number_ of the goldwinning machines.
