(Received January 29, at 9.51 .a.m.) A railway collision is reported from Gembrook. The accident was due to an excursion-Irani on the narrow-gauge lino between Fernlree Giilly and Gembrook becoming derailed. This train consisted of eight covered tracks, containing 250 Melbourne exclirsioniatS. When pounding llie eiirve the engine left the line, dragging with it three tracks crammed with passengers. These ploughed some distance up the embankment, and then fell over on their sides. '& j A scene of wild excitement, followed. When the passengers were exlricated from the splintered tnilks it w,ls found that about 70? had received injuries, the majority being slight. Tho most- serious were those of Mrs Cox and Ernest, Gleeson,'internally; Mrs Gleeson, damaged in the leg; T. Russell, a fractured arm; and Teriver Shcelian, a fractured wrist and badly cut. Two or three others arc suffering from shock. Trains despatched from Melbourne . brought tho excursionists and wounded back to town.
