NO LICENSE MEETING.

A fairly largo audience assembled in tho Sunday School Ball, Anderson's Bay, on Monday evening, to hear tho Rev. W. A. Sinclair and Mr G. B. Nieholls on tho subject of No-ticense.. Mr Waugh presided. Mr Nieholls, who spoke f.ret, dwelt upon tho great effect tho decision of Bruce, Chalmers, end Newtown would have upon Australasian opinion. IMheso three electorates declared again for No-license, with increased majorities, tho argument in its favour would he irresistible. Mr Nieholls also stated that tho thorough canvass of Port Chalmers just made By a lady canvasser had disclosed the fact that score 3 of perrons who were formerly indifferent or hostile were, now Gtror.gly in favour of No-liecnsc, as a result of seeing it in operation. Tho vote in its favour would consequently be stronger than ever at tho next election. Mr Nieholls was frequently applauded in the course of his remarks.

Sinclair, who followed, made a strong point of the manner in which churches and churchmen who had formerly been against Jfo-license were coming over to tliat side, and quoted from a letter of an Anglican clergyman to tie Auckland Church Aews (Anglican organ), in which the writer said that "thbugh he had always been greatly prejudiced against the principle of prohibition, he was compelled by the thorough investigations he had made to change his opinion, and after this he would never be able to say a word against Nolicense. He had not been able to find ono person who had been degraded by Nolicense."—(Applause.)
