DUNEDIN AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB.

The following report will bo presented to the annual meeting of members:— Your Board of 3fanagemsnt has much pleasure in submitting the fifth annual report, together with tho balance sheef, showing the fimmcii! position of the club.' and is pleased to be able to congratulate the meinfcrs on another very successful season both from a financial and swimming aepect, especially the foimer, as the club, has no liabilities to meet and are able to carry forward a. credit telauco. Membership.—Although the. membership of tho Club has decreased slightly during tho season, there has been a- considerable increase of new members, especially amongst- the juniors, the number of financial Members on the books being 86 seniors, 78 juniors, and 29 Mice, making a. total of 193 financial members of all ranks.

Public Schools.—During the season the following schools have boen using the baths: — Albany street (boys and girls), Union street (boys and giris), Forbury (boys), George street (boys and girls), St. Hilda's Collegiate School (ladies), Girls' High School, Miw Miller's School, North-Eact Valley (boys), Industrial School (boya and girls), also Mr Hanno- hwl a class of pupil tetchcra from the different •schools, both ladies and gentlemen attending. Tho result was that about GOO children attended tho baths regularly during tho season, and a largo majority learnt fho useful art. Improvements.—During the yo&r a number of improvements and repairs were, carried out at tho baths, which havo proved beneficial fo swimmers. Amongst other improvements the small bath was painted and attention given to the showers. Eac3 Meetings and Carnivals,—Four race carnivals wcro held during the season, and sduio very good raoing wau witnessed as the result ot the haiidicappcr's v;ork, to whom great praise is due, tho times for the different distances bring very fast and a great improvement on all former tinies, which shows that the rasing is improving. The Otago and Southland championships for 60 yards and 2-20 yards were won by Mr IT. Thompson, and the 103 yards by Mr M. C. Buttcrficld, captain and deputy-captain of tho club respectively. Tho committee would like to see more mcinberu interest themselves in the racing and carnivals held by tho club. General.—The batlis were open to tho public continually from October 1, 11)04, to April 30, by the-club, and owing to the zeal of the caretaker w-ere not closed down for more than a day during the whole season..
