THE CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW.

Sir.,—Allow mo to suggest to the Horticultural Society, through the medium of your paper, that owing to tho lateness of the season the chrysanthemum show be held i week later than the date fixed. This would give growers more- time, which is very badly needed, and also give the sccioty the advantage of holding the show on a holiday, lis tho date would then bo . Empire Day. Growers are agreed that if tho show is held on the date originally fixed only a moderate display of flowers can -'be exhibited. ' Sin,—ln reading over tho renort of the Dunedin Horticultural Society I see special mention is mado that tho date fixed for the roso show did not 6uit all growers, and that the show suffered in - consequence. I aiii ifraid the same thing will happen at' the winter show if the date is not put back a •week. From inquiries I have made there will not be an amateur exhibit staged and vory few in the open dats, tho cold weather experienced during the past two weeks having kept tho buds from developing. Thopo seme of our leading growers, will; attend the annual meeting on Friday night and move in favour of holding tho 6hciw on the 24th of May, so as to put all on an equal footing and provide a good display" for the patrons of tlio society.—l am, ctc.', * April 25.
