INQUEST.
A VERDICT OP GROSS UE&UG-ENOB. An inquest was held yesterday before Mr C. C. Graham (coroner) and a jury, of whom Mr P. O'Neill was chosen foreman, in connection with tho circumstances surrounding the death of Linda Deishler,. a child of seven weels3, who died suddenly at her mother's residence in York place 011 Monday night. Dt Martin gave evidence to the effect that death was due to diarrhcoa and gastroenteritis. .Tho child had only been brought to him once, and then it was so ill that he thought it would die. lie told the. mother she should have brought it to him before, and lie ordered'her to bring it to him again the following morning, which she did not do.
The mother's statement was to the effect that she had got some mcdicino for the child, and thought it was baiter. Then after she had taken it to Br Martin she did not think it was any use going again next day, as the doctor had said the child would not live. The jury returned a verdict of death from natural cause 3. and added a rider to the effect that the mother was guilty of gross negligenc! in not having called in medical aid sooner.
