The secretary of the Lady Annie Company reports a return of 60cfe sdwt for 130 hours' p.-ork. The Waikaia dredgemaster reports having washed, up for a return of 21oz ]6dwt for 127 hours' work. Hie Secretary of the Hessey's Company reports a wash-up for si return of 20oz 15dwt (or 134 hours' work. Bepairs to the Clyde dredje were completed on Wednesday last, and as soon as the river Jails to a suitable leTel dredging will cornpence.. winchman on the v Jubilee dredge for some considerable time, has secured an appointment on one of the dredges in Malay. The actual lime worked by the Punt dredge last week was 125 hours. The dredge was still opening out. The ground was very deep on the cast side, with a slight layer of wash on the bottom. It was still shallow on the west side. On the east side there was sandstone bot-toto, and on the south aide pipeclay. The dredge was stopped all day Saturday liaving new beaters put, in the elevator, also fixing screen, etc.

The New Roxburgh Jubilee dredgemaster reports that he got started again on Saturday last after the breakdown, but up to that lime had not worked through the old ground, hut expected to do so by about the middle of this week.

The Clutha River Company's dredge (late Sunshine) commenced dredging on Wednesday of last week. A, start was made to dredge the tailings out of the way iu order to get to the cut left off by the old Royal Maori dredge. There will bo about two more weeks dead work, after which payable returns are assured. Mr R. A. Dennistou is in temporary charge pending the appointment of a permanent dredgemaster in two or three weeks' time. The dredge has had a fair overhaul, and everything is working well. The directors of the Otago Gold Dredging Company have declared a dividend (the thirtysecond) of one shilling per share, payable on Tuesday, 21st inst. I The following items are from the Alexandra Herald:—The annual meeting of the Molyneii\Hydraulic Dredging Company (Limited) called for Monday evening last, lapsed for want ot a quorum, and was adjourned till Monday next.—Mr Hayes, Government inspecting engineer, was in this district last week inspecting the country where the Alexandra Bonanza water race is asked to be constructed to. As Mr Hayes has now inspected both places where the race is agitated for, his report will be anxiously awaited for by ail concerned.— A' party of local dredgemen have taken over tne Chatto Creek dredge, and intend starting dredging as soon as possible. The Blackwater River Gold Dredging Company, which carries on operations on the West Coast, is fortunate in having a claim wlii-di is not only excellent in quality, but which is likely to last for a period of between 14 and 20 years to come. Almost since its commencement the company has- done exceedingly well, and although recent returns have been on the small side, they are again looking up, and the dredge is now crediting herself with yields a few ounces short of the half-cenlurv. The exact amount of gold won last year was 17530z Gdwt 17gr, which is an average of about ;!soz per week, or close on 500oz in excess of the yield for the previous year. The value of this output was £6!)7o 9s -id, and the amount expended in its production £1813 I.ls 4d. The gold out put since registration stands at 30340z <ldwt iigr, of a value of £12,170 4s Dd. The expenditure during the same period .i-as £18,340 Is Bd, and the amount of dividends declared £3-316 ss. At the end of December .last there was cash'at the bankers and on deposit amounting to £495 2s Bd. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. The share market continues depressed, few quotes being the order, with only an occasional sale to break the monotony of the call-over. In one or two stocks there is however, a tendency for values to harden, but holders usually remain very wide, with the result that the chances of business in these stocks arc somewhat remote. Yesterday only ono sale was brought off, the stock noticed being' Junction Electric. Rise and Shines commanded better inquiry, but holders continued wide. Golden Treasures were placed on offer at a reduced price; but drew 110 inquiry. The river height at Alexandra yesterday morning was 7ft 4in above the'',nonnal mark, which , indicates a fall of sin since the previous day. iSignell's No Towns wero again placed on the market at 18s Gd, but drew no inquiry; whilo Central Charltons wero again sought after without response, Dunstan Leads had inquiry at 6s, and a seller responded at 7s. An inquiry was made for Golden Runs without result, and Golden Treasures were placed on offer at 83s, as against 85s the previous day, without eliciting any buying demand; this also beiug the case with-regard to Hartley and Rilcys, holders of which 'were asking 48s, A parcel of Junction Electric shaves changed hands at 4s, and at the close further lots wero procurable at a similar price, but buyers were only disposed to give 3s Gd. Manuherikias were in request at 2Gs, and Nelson Creeks at 20s, but there were no sellers of either stock on the market. (Fboh Our Own Correspondent.) , CROMWELL, February IG. The weather is fine and the river is falling steadily, but is still too high for anv of the gorge dredges to get started. The Clutha dredges will lose a little time this week through the annual boiler inspection. The Rise and Shine No. 1 dredge is on improved wash, and will likely put in some good returns. The Revival dredge is working through some old ground. Tl>e Electric No. 1 dredge had another breakdown just after getting started on Tuesday. The contractor has begun the work 'of dismantling the Vincent dredge. The river is keeping at a high level, and the dredges in the Clyde-Cromwell gorge are idle as a consequence. Patrick M'Elligott, who was injured by a flying sprag on board the Eamscleugb dredge, is now out of danger, the injuries being slight. The Lomond dredge has worked off her run of rich wash, and the master does not expect to pick it up for a- week or two. NOTES FROM IIEEFTON. (Per United Press Association.) IIEEFTON, February IG. The Progress Mines of New fceaiand (Limited) report as follows on the operations for the month of January, 1505:—Five thousand two hundred and forty-two tons of stone were mined and transported by aerial tramway to the 65-stamp mill, whore 4652 tons were crushed, producing 15550z 19dwt i2"r of bullion, valued at £GIGG 12s. Ninety tons of concentrates were chlorinated, yielding billion of the value of £37G 0s 9d. Three thousand three hundred tons of tailings were cyanided, yielding bullion to the value ot fflOG 9s 9d. Consolidated Goldflelds of New Zealand (Limited).—Golden Fleece mine, U2O tons of stone were crushed at the 20-stamp mill for a return of 4590z 18dwt bullion, valued at £185G 19s 2d. Eighteen tons of concentrates were produced and 150 tons coarse sands cyanided, the latter yielding bullion of tl'c value of £344 4s. Wealth of Nations mine: Nine tons of concentrates wore produced end 720 ions coarse sands cyanided, the latter yielding bullion of the value of £403 13s 2d. At the Energetic mine the main shaft v,as put down by the contractors a further distance of Soft, making the total depth 125 ft; total depth of the shaft, 1494 ft in all. WETHERSTONES. (Feo« Oor Own Correspondent.' February 10.—The Golden Crescent finished the first paddock of the new year in the last week of January, getting COoz for three weeks' elevating. At present the manager is ground-sluicing away the dirt and tailings • around the site of the old ' Tuapeka battery. • There is a deep gutter running through the giSund, to take out- which he intends to put a low lift in. A dividend of Is Gd was paid last month, making 33s paid back to shareholders. The manager of the Local Industry finished the paddock last Saturday, getting' 40oz. He made a quick dispatch in shifting. He commenced elevating again on Wednesday afternoon, Sth ins.t. The. waterman, on going round the race' to turn the water on, tool; 27 dead rabbits, out of the race, the -rabbit inspector having had that part oi the Wetlierstpnes. commonage poisoned last week.
