Mr James \Yatson Shaw, who is (ho Otago ! University Professorial Board's candidate for the Rhodes scholarship, Ims boon in. formed that he has taken the deareo of M.A. with first class honours in English and French, Mr Shaw has had a brilliant career. Miss Marion Meiklem Strang has received intimation that she has passed the final section of the B.A degree, and has won the John Tin in scholarship, which is awarded for excellence in English language and literature. . Miss Mary Harriet M'Gowan Kin* lias received cable noricc that she has passed the final section of tlio B.A. degree, and has been awarded the senior scholarship in English and French. Mr A. Moncrieir Finlavson, a former dux i of Port Chalmers District High School, and holder of a New Zealand University scholarii!Pi'" ( | tago Unlvcls % (won from Waitaki High School), has received notice that -he has passed the first section of .the minimition for the B.Sc. degree. Miss Mary Webb, of Invercargill, has passed tho final section of the B.A. decree, and has also secured the Latin scholarship. Miss Plorvio Gillies, of Dmiedin, has passed the first section of the B.A. degree examination. Mr Walter Given, M.A.. has passed tl-e final examination of the B.Se. degree.
