(Received Feb. 16, at 10.47 a.m.) The State Premiers, in their discussion on Hid extension of the Brandon clause, suggest that if tile words relating lo 10 years as the turn of its life bo deleted, this would leave the Federal Government lire power to abiogato the clause when it deems it expedient. They still object to the sinking fund proposal, but are agreeable to any savings effected by conversion being paid into n sinking fund. (Bereived Feb. 17, «l 0,59 a.m.) The conference agreed to united action to make a scientific investigation to discover the best means of destroying rabbits. No reduction is to bo made at present in the State Governors' salaries. The conference approved of retaining the present method for their appointment. The Federal Government is to be rcrjueslctt to provide £200 annually for five years towards a scientific inquiry l>y'imperial authorities in tropical diseases.
