EXCURSION TO TAIERI MOUTH

A very pleasant day's outing wis spent yesterday by tho •'visiting Kechabito delegates at a picnio at 'l'aiorl • Mouth. The gathering, which ■ wna organised by tho members of tho Hope of Dunedin Tout, was in every , respect a' most successful affair. Members and their friends journeyed ■by the* 7.45 train to Henley/ whore the picnickers took passago in Mr M'Kcgg's oil launch Waiwera, with tho boats Iris and Doris in tow. Tho voyage down tho Taieri River was most enjoyable, despite tho somewhat strong north-west wind, which lifted bodily the awning of the Waiwora, carrying it overboard. The. scoriory was tho subject of much praiso by the visitors, who wore surprised at ita beauty. Tho camping' spot was reached about midday. A pleasant timo was spent during tho afternoon in visiting the surroundings, and a homeward move was mado at about 6 o'clock. Tluj return trip up tho river was a very fast one, but unfortunately tho. party was late for the 7 o'clock train. They were, however, picked up by the goods train, arriving in town at 10.15, tired and weary after n pleasant and enjoyable outing. A weird of praise should be given to the scoretary (Bro. Farrant) find tho members of tho local' tent for the excellent arrangements made for tho.gathering, and it was due in no small measuro to their efforts that the function proved so enjoyable.
