«p (P>:r U.MTBI) Pbbss Assoomtiox.) , MASTERTON, February 15. '■ The People's Day of the Masterton Show was favoured with beautiful weather. The attendance was between 6000 and 7000. Great interest was taken in the competitions, which were keenly contested, and got off with only two, not serious, mishaps. The machine-shearing competition, three sheep, was won by Harry Hawkins (Hastings) in smin Usee, Samuel Hawkins •(Hastings) second, smin 49Jsee. In the walking competition Whatman Bros, had a walk-over. The rescue competition was won fy Private Wells; trotting horse (in harness), W. Coogcr's G'.cmvood; champion jump, J. 11. M'Niven's Pickpocket: leading and jumping competition, Sergeant ■Tilson's section (South AVairarapa M.ll.); consolation jump, G. F. Moore's Mingion. E. J. Wiido won Mr W. Campion's special prize for the best turned out lady's hack.
