At a meeting of the South Canterbury Education Board to-day a resolution was unanimously passed protesting .against the action of the department in limiting tho spending powers of boards, forcing them into ftn attitude of mendicancy in some cases, and in others allowing a miserable concession of 7 per cent. A remonstrance was also offered against the department regarding boards with distrust and having their proper functions withdrawn.
