FIRE BRIGADES DEMONSTRATION.

PREPARATIONS PROCEEDING APACE.

Tins year the fire brigades' demonstration will fake place in Dunedin, tho dates fixed being Wednesday, Bth March, and tlio two following days. All the teams aro expected in Dunedin by the 4th March, It is anticipated that there will be between 80 and 90 teams in attendance, with a total of over 600 men. .

On Sunday, sth March, there will be a church parade, the firemen marching f rom the Triangle to Knox Church. The afternoon of the same day will take tho form of a. Hospital Sunday in the Botanical Gardens, under the auspices of tho Firo Brigades' Association and the combined bands.

On Monday, 6th March, the visitors will be welcomed by his Worship the Mayor (Mr Thomas Christie), on behalf of the cit-iwns of Dunedin, and thereafter the business of tho conference will bo takon up. Tho conference will be resinned on Tuesday, for which day a ■picnic has also been arranged. Tents will be pitched in tho Caledonian Ground, outside the ring, for the use of tho men while they aro engaged' in Die competitions.

Water is now being laid on to the ground for competition purposes. A 7-inch main is being put down, which will give a pressure of 1701b to the square inch. Tn no previous competition has such a pressure been provided.

The local men frequently practice in Fflleul street in the evening.
