INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHABITES.

The general district meeting of the- Indepen. dent Order of Jfcchabites, New Zealand Central District, No. SG, will commence ita sittings to-morrow in- the Choral Hall. Tho " D.G'.K. is Bra J. Whittaker, of New Plymouth, and the District Secretary, Bro. the Hon. F. H. Fraser, M.I/.C., of Wellington. Although the district was formed 33 years" ago, and the Local • Tent, No. 20, has been in existence since 1870, this is the first time that the general district meeting has been held in Dunedin. lie local tent, Hope of Dunedin, appointed a strong committee some time ago to make the necessary arrangements . for the welcome of the visiting brethren, and also to draw np a programme of entertainments. This corrrmitice has issued an illustrated eight-page booklet giving the name of each representative, the tent they represent ■ and their address while here; also lis list of entertainments, and some places of interest in and around Dunedin. The illustrations aro Princes street, showing the Stock Exchange Buildings, Post Office, and High, street; a . view of .tho Taieri River and, Lake Waaalca. Ihe booklet was posted to the delegate* in time " to reach them before leaving their homes for Dunedin. Two or three of the southern meri arrived on Saturday evening, and a number |Of the northern by the steamer yesterday but the majority will arrive by the eipreas trains to-night, when a reception will bo held in the Coffee' Palace. To-morrow evening in • the Choral Hall the juvenile and the adult tents will nwot. On Wednteday a piciiio -will be held at the Taieri Mouth, the picnickers leaving town by train for Henley, thence pre- .' ceeding by Ifr M'Kegg's, steamer down the - river.
