The Countess of Onslow is at present on • short visit to the lion. Gcorgo M'Lean at Warrington. On Wednesday she was sliowii over the Scacliff Asylum by Dr Trilby King. At the ond of tho week her Ladyship proceeds to Queenstown, and after doing the Lake district goes through the Ollra Gorge Irom Christchurch to Ecefton, thence overland to Nelson. The Countess then returns to the North Island, journeying from Auckland to Sydney, where she will rejoin the Ortoua- lit the end of Febl'liary en rente for England.

Mr Newton King, Mayor ot New Plymouth, is .mentioned as a probable candidate for tho Patea seat at the genera! eleotion. Tho New Zealand Times states that Dr A. R.
