The dredger Texas, bound from Dantzig to Galveston, foundered in a storm in Uio Bay of Biscay, when 21 were drowned. A boatful of 12 survivors, after being six days without food or water, were rescued delirious. They were landed at Wuterford. The Texas was insured for £26,666. The steamer Clara Panama, bound from Liverpool to Para, foundered in the Irish Sea. Twelve were drowned.
