Gentlemen and Mesdames,—The late Chairman of the Board has decided not to oiler himself for re-election, I have therefore agreed, in reply to a Deputation and soveral requests from different parts of tho District, to offer myself as CANDIDATE for your suffrages. If I.am elected I will enter the Board with the solo desire to giye to tho duties those broad business principles which should bo applied io all public works. My efforts will likewise 1 be directed to s&3 that this important -undertaking is systematically and economically; carried through, and at the same time to do' justico to all parts of the District. There is a hostilo feeling .in somo quarters against the methods of the Engineier, but i£ elected I will give Sympathetic Support to Mr. Anderson to oontinue the scheme that haa been adopted by tho BoaTd, as I consider it would be a gravo error if that important officer were unduly harassed by a majority of unfriendly members.
