FEDERAL PARLIAMENT
THE ARBITRATION BILL,
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, September 13.
(Received Sep. 14, at 1 a.m.) In the House of Representatives the Premier (Air Reid) proceeded with the amended Arbitration Bill. Ho said most of the nmandments were of a purely consequential character.
Mr Watson contended that the amendment previously carried at tho instance of .Mr M'Cay rendered the bill absolutely unworkable. As far as he was able ten ascertain, unions would refuse to register, not because of the nature of the preference amendment, but because they recognised it would be absolutely impossible to discover v/hen there was the majority that the preference clause necessitated.' He informed Mr Reid he had nothing to say on the amendments, and threw tho responsibility of this ineffective bill on the Government.
