At a : meeting, of. the City Council the Mayor (Mi - Cohen) strongly con-, demned Dowie's di-'loyal utterances, and ■said : tliat ha was thankful that Do'wio ; was not a British subject. Ho also, regretted that. Dowie beiaiiged, to a nation : . oil the friendliest terms witli tlie British, ' Empire. He asked the council to reprobate Dowie's action by stiuidiiig aild saying witli him "God save.our gracious King." All tho councillors responded. The Mayor was specially thanked, for refusing Dotvie the. use of the Town Hall, The use of the city baths for immersing converts, has iilso been refused'.
