At a special meeting of tho Lawn Tennis Association the question of how the association should benefit financially from championship meetings h?ld in different centres was discussed. The question of sending a team to Australia in September was deferred. PORT CHALMERS SAILING CLUB. The members of the Port Chalmers Sailing Club entertained a number of Uieir friends at a picnic (it Portobello on Saturday afternoon. The ferry stcaiufr Tnrawai, with several boats iu tow, conveyed a large number of visitors from the Port to Portnbello, while the Mayor of Port Chalmers and party arrived shortly afterwards in the yacht Anonyma. The Port Chalmers Band were in attendance, and played some selections during the afternoon in excellent style, their efforts going a long way in making the day enjoyable. Messrs Steel and Kirk were very yuccessful in their comic selections with the Edison phonograph. Later intho <lny several yachts representing the Otago and Ravensbourne Yacht Clubs arrived, and were warmly greeted.
