—Tho wax palm of tho Andes is a vegetable wonder. It grows to a height of nearly 200 ft, and thrives not only on the- plains, but on the mountains. The wood is tough and durable, and is employed in carpentry. Tho wax comes from' the pits between the trun'k and fronds.'
