Inst evening, tho pupils being materially assisted in providing a capital evening's music by Mrs Monkman. and several of those who attend her for vocal tuition. Mrs Monkman herself supplied tlio accompaniments to the singers, and also sang during the evening, being tile first, to reccivs an encore for her admirable rendering of " Ln sercnata." The other lady vocalists were Miss Violet M'Furlano and Miss Cooke, both of whom were recalled, but only the former responded>to the invitation to again sing. Messrs Boot, end Cooke also sang, the latter giving a very good rendering of "Tho devopt lover," for which he was encored. Of the instrumentation, the banjo playing was nrobnbly the best, though all proved enjoyable. Mr H. Stokes gave both a mandolin and banjo solo, besides accompanying the other instrumentalists on the harp. Duets, quartets, Quintets, and septets were played by Misses Whit-taker, Clarke, Johnston, M'Leod," Hoodie, Stevens, Bngley, Seelye, Messrs Steven, Bagley, Erridge. Seelye, Justicc, and Jacobs.
